The Solution Architect is responsible for the definition and delivery of Architecture and Design deliverables based on Business requirements and the Conceptual solution architecture. It will also lead specification and detailed design of the platform architecture to meet defined business needs.
As a Solution Architect, you will engage with stakeholders from across the organisation to elucidate and document critical business challenges and opportunities. Your task will be to translate these insights into technical specifications that drive enhancements. Your leadership will extend to fostering collaboration among multiple teams, ensuring that technologies and systems align with and bolster business objectives.
Your expertise will be instrumental in spearheading the architecture, application, and data solutions for the specified projects.
Key Accountabilities
- Direct the translation of requirements by external service providers into high-level and detailed solution designs that satisfy business expectations and ICT standards.
- Oversee the development of design documentation for external and internal developers and configuration specialists, provide ongoing guidance to support delivery and perform quality assurance on outputs
- Review and provide quality assurance of solution architecture, designs and implementations carried out by external service providers
- Monitor and report on the progress of programs and projects against solution designs and quality of deliverables, drive remedial actions and escalate issues where necessary
- Provide guidance on the development of solution components to ensure they consider developments and changes in the digital business and threat environments and are secure by design.
- Assessing the systems architecture currently in place and working with technical staff to recommend solutions to improve it.
- Resolve technical problems as they arise.
- Lead Design elaboration workshops with various vendors.
- Inform various stakeholders about risks/issues/mitigations linked to individually assigned solutions.
- Design and deliver complex cross-domain solutions encompassing a rich variety of technologies and using a mixture of agile and planned methods to provide innovative solutions to address clients' needs.
- Accountable for creating and capturing accurate and complete records of the business activities related to this position, in accordance with approved policy and procedures. This is applicable to both hardcopy and electronic information, including email.
Skills and experience
- Previous experience as a Solution Architect/ Technical Analyst in large and complex enterprise environments or experience in at least two IT solution development disciplines.
- Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies, platforms, and processing environments, and/or system analysis activities on complex Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products.
- Awareness of ICT framework or similar process methodologies and/or qualification in Information Technology or Computer Science.
- Certification in The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) or similar industry-recognised certification desirable.
- Knowledge and/or experience in both waterfall, agile, and/or PRINCE2 project methodologies.
- Ability to conduct thorough technical assessments, create comprehensive inventories, and develop solution architectures that address identified gaps and align with business requirements.
- Proficiency in developing and updating architecture diagrams spanning across various platforms and infrastructure components.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate business and technical requirements into actionable solution design artefacts.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality solution architecture activities.
