Senior Business Analyst

Transgrid operates and manages the major high voltage electricity transmission network in NSW and the ACT, connecting generators, distributors and major end users.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of an organisation dedicated to nation-building renewable energy projects that will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.

The primary objective of this position is to serve as the liaison between end users and IT, ensuring that business unit requirements are effectively translated into technology solutions.

Key responsibilities include contributing to the analysis of Transgrid's business intentions, services, processes, and information needs to identify areas for improvement. This involves assisting in the development of business cases for identified projects, ensuring that the proposed solutions align with the organisation's strategy and deliver measurable benefits.

Furthermore, the role involves providing specialised IT advice and support to business units, leveraging expertise to translate business requirements into functional and non-functional specifications. The Senior Business Analyst will also play a key role in creating and ensuring that Project Briefs/Lean Canvases clearly define and address the business needs.

Additionally, the role will lead the planning of business analysis engagements and will be accountable for ensuring the quality of business analysis outcomes and the performance of the business analysis team on specific engagements.

About you

• Possession of relevant qualifications at degree level or equivalent experience to perform the duties of the position.
• BA related training and professional certification such as, CBAP/ CCBA/ ECBA - IIBA ,BCS BA, PMI BA or similar - highly desirable
• 7+ years dedicated business analysis experience working on Agile, Lean and Waterfall projects.
• Experience working independently on projects over $2 mil across the full SDLC from early ideation to execution and embedment in BAU.
• Deep understanding of the business analysis fundamentals such as BABOK knowledge areas and techniques
• Experience in gathering stakeholder needs and translating these to business requirements and then to solution requirements.
• Experience in business process modelling using software such as MS Visio or other enterprise endorsed platforms and notation languages UML and/or BPMN.
• Experience using Atlassian tool suite (JIRA and Confluence).
• Effective communication, facilitation, influencing and negotiation skills. Can collaborate with stakeholders across seniority levels.
• Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage change within a dynamic environment.
• Be comfortable working within a matrix structure.
• Experience working with Change Management and influencing user behaviour.
