Your new role
In response to the massive investment in roads in QLD, the organisation’s Civil Transport team is growing. As a result, they are looking for a technically experienced, team-oriented and client-focused Senior to Associate Level Civil Engineer to help build and grow their Civil Engineering (Roads & Highway) capability. This is the opportunity for the right candidate to get in and help grow this discipline in the Queensland market.
Their Gold Coast business provides civil and structural engineering services, amongst others, for transport infrastructure projects in a wide variety of markets. Their highly-skilled technical experts are driven by a passion to help clients achieve their goals and improve society for today and future generations.
The day to day can see you do:
- Demonstrate effective communication, presentation, networking and consulting skills.
- Mentor less-experienced engineers to help develop their technical skills and knowledge.
- Identify and manage technical and commercial risks on behalf of the company and their clients.
- Build and foster internal and external relationships that lead to repeat work.
- Apply principles and professional knowledge and judgement to plan and implement projects.
- Take ownership of the final outcome on distinct projects / packages of work including management of resources and budgets, delegation of responsibilities and quality of deliverables.
- Engage in business operations and demonstrate an understanding the impact of works practices on the financial outcome of projects.
What you'll need to succeed
Experience locally in a similar role will be expected as well as the following requirements:
- Hold a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or higher that is recognised by Engineers Australia.
- Have strong in-depth knowledge and understanding of Austroads, VicRoads and Australian Standards relevant to road and highway infrastructure design. QLD experience would be a Bonus.
- Hold or be eligible for RPEQ.
- Have a robust understanding of civil and road engineering principles, road geometry design process, road safety considerations and requirements and the interrelationship of road design and other design disciplines.
- Demonstrate a working understanding of design and drafting software packages such as AutoCAD, Microstation, 12d and/or OpenRoads.
- Have a minimum 7 to 12+ years of experience in the design and delivery of road and highway infrastructure projects.
- Have a strong working understanding of local government regulatory frameworks and statutory compliance requirements.
- Have robust experience in report writing, external client communications, TANs and Design Exception Reports.
