About this role
North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) provides timely access to high quality health care, embracing acknowledged best practice to deliver improved clinical outcomes in the face of rising challenges for all healthcare providers. The NMHS comprises a mix of tertiary, specialist and generalist hospitals. Our north metropolitan catchment area covers almost 1000 square kilometres. Our population represents about 28 per cent of Western Australia’s total and is projected to grow to more than 0.9 million by 2031. NMHS contains Western Australia’s largest Mental Health Service caring for youths, adults and older adults. Services are delivered through inpatient units, community mental health clinics and day therapy and outreach programs to a catchment area of almost 1 million people. State-wide and Tertiary Mental Health Services include research, forensics, neurosciences, art therapy, eating disorders and other specialised services.
The NMHS Mental Health Older Adult Mental Health Program is responsible for the delivery of specialist mental health services to older people living in the North Metropolitan region of Perth. The Older Adult Program (OAP) operates several Older Adult Mental Health Services (OAMHS) that provide inpatient, Hospital in the Home and community services from locations in Wanneroo, Osborne Park and Shenton Park. A Geriatric Psychiatry Consultation Liaison Team also provides assessment and treatment planning to both Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Osborne Park Hospital.
The Senior Clinical Psychologist provides a clinical psychological service requiring a high level of knowledge, experience and competence within a multidisciplinary and professional team context to inpatients and community patients. In this role, you will provide consultation, case coordination/management, education, and supervision (to Trainees), on complex mental health/psychological disorders to both internal and external services and practitioners. You will practice as a Senior Clinical Psychologist and ensures practice is in accordance with laws and ethical standards governing psychological practice as per the psychology Board of Australia and North Metropolitan Health Service policies and guidelines.
This position is based at Shenton Park and reports to the Service Coordinator.
