YOUR NEW ROLE
The Senior Communications Manager is responsible for the planning, execution and management of brand, customer and corporate communications campaigns that build awareness and support for the Opera House’s purpose and strategic priorities.
Reporting to the General Manager External Communications, you will play a lead role in driving a strategic and effective program of organisation-wide media activity to reach and engage audiences, stakeholders and the broader community. Key business priorities and projects include brand campaigns, precinct and tourism activity, major events and building renewal initiatives.
You will also play a critical role in navigating and responding to complex and sensitive issues of high public visibility, providing expert communications counsel to protect and strengthen the Opera House’s reputation as a leading, vibrant and evolving cultural landmark.
This role manages, and provides leadership to, a Communications Manager and Communications Specialist.

ARE YOU THE ONE?
We are looking for someone with:
- A proven record of accomplishment delivering corporate communications, issues management and high-impact campaigns.
- Exceptional leadership and project management skills, including the ability to lead, plan or collaborate on a number of different projects at once in what can be a pressured environment.
- Excellent writing, editing and proof-reading skills – ability to translate nuanced themes into impactful, engaging communications.
- A proven ability to establish and maintain effective networks and working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated research, analytical and problem-solving skills in a politically sensitive environment.
- A solutions-focused approach – ability to troubleshoot, think laterally to find solutions and overcome potential challenges.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as media, communications or journalism.
