We are looking for an accomplished Senior Communications Officer to join our Strategic Communications Branch. We work flexible hours in our CBD office with the option to work from home on some days. We have a friendly, supportive and collaborative team.
We’re looking for someone with a strong understanding and proven ability to manage end-to-end delivery of large-scale communication strategies, campaigns and engagement activities. You will be proactive, self-motivated and able to work well autonomously and as part of a team.

You'll need to be organised and meet deadlines, work and communicate well with clients and colleagues, and be passionate about supporting a fair, safe and just Queensland.Your key responsibilities

• Provide strategic communication and production advice to a wide range of departmental clients.
• Build relationships and take a proactive approach with the department's key business areas and senior staff.
• Deliver high-level marketing and communication services, to business areas including communication strategies, project plans, campaign briefs, and any number of other marketing related tasks.
• Write, edit and coordinate a wide variety of content across internal and external channels
• Create and post content to the department's social media channels.
• Prepare business cases, memos, reports and briefing notes for the Director- General and Attorney-General.
• Work closely with a small in-house graphic design team, ensuring budgets, deadlines and Queensland Government corporate identity are adhered to and client expectations are managed in a timely and courteous manner, including the ability to provide responsive solutions to urgent requests.
• Provide support to other members of the team and work closely with other service provider areas within the department, such as online, digital and media teams, to ensure smooth delivery of all messaging.

Technical skills, abilities and cultural capability

• High-level communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and succinctly.
• High-level writing and proofreading skills, with the ability to communicate complex topics through the use of plain English.
• Complete workload within established timeframes and adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders, solve problems, and influence outcomes.

The team and the branch Communications is part of the Department's Strategic Communications Branch, which guides, enables, develops and promotes people management, capability and communication to improve the productivity and achievements of our people and the Department. Communications is a highly-skilled, multi-disciplinary communication team which provides expert advice to DJAG's diverse business units. It provides whole-of-agency and portfolio communications, manages corporate projects, provides effective communication tools and offers advice and support to DJAG business units. It is comprised of three teams:

• Strategic Communication and graphic design/ multimedia
• Online Services
• Media Relations

Qualifications and conditions
