Senior Data Engineer, multiple temporary opportunities up to June 2026 Locations are flexible across NSW with hybrid working
An exciting ongoing opportunity has arisen for a Senior Data Engineer to join the Better Revenue Outcomes team in Revenue NSW Digital Taxes.
In this hands-on role you will provide technical advice and services in the development of data products and data-related services to support the achievement of business outcomes and strategic goals for the benefit of NSW citizens.
The role will also drive development of data processing frameworks and data architectural approaches scaled to current and future business demands.
You will be joining a friendly, fast-paced, dynamic and diverse team who is passionate about keeping people and places safe.
In this role you will:
Partner with customers and stakeholders to build and maintain databases, ETL pipelines and management systems and provide end to end solutions to meet business, technical and user needs to meet functional/non-functional business requirements
Support the end-to-end delivery of innovative data management system and solution from concepts to production deployment including testing and integration to ensure fit for purpose solutions through engineering, deployment and commercialisation
Contribute to ongoing management of data management systems and solutions including enhancements, capacity management, performance monitoring, troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues to ensure effective and optimal usage of systems and resources
Take technical ownership for data and data pipelines to ensure compliance with data standards, architectural standards, and achievement of business requirements
Maintain up to date knowledge of latest industry trends and innovations in data architecture and solutions to champion continuous improvement and maximise service delivery to achieve effective project outcomes
Monitor systems, identify risk and emerging issues and recommend solutions to ensure compliance with data, information and security management requirements
Collaborate with senior leaders and other customers and stakeholders to ensure active support and resolution of risk related matters to align with organisational requirements and business objectives
Skills and experience required:
Minimum 3 years of Data Warehouse experience
Experience with modelling and normalising complex data.
Experience manipulating and analysing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from multiple sources / systems of record.
Experience with ETL tools, data analytics platforms, and reporting services.
Proficient in Python
Knowledge of data gathering, cleansing and transformation techniques
Experience working with Apache Airflow, Kafka and Spark
