This is a Head office-based role as part of our Technical Services team. The successful candidate for this role can be based in any of our offices in Eight Mile Plains QLD, McMahons Point NSW, or Melbourne VIC. The primary objective of this position is to support the various business units to maximise opportunities and returns for Seymour Whyte through efficient and innovative design development during tender preparation and/or project delivery.
About the role:
- Engage in early-stage development for efficient and validated Temporary Works concepts, providing technical input to design briefs for external consultants.
- Develop high-level staging and sequence plans, ensuring consistency in design and engineering management practices.
- Propose construction methodology solutions for effective delivery of high-risk activities.
- Identify technical risks or opportunities impacting project delivery and address them proactively.
- Review external Temporary Works consultant designs for high-risk packages and challenge or optimize them as needed.
- Provide technical guidance through tender/project secondments, managing high-risk Temporary Works packages for successful delivery.
The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:
- A Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Civil), Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent Civil Engineering qualification.
- Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or Chartered Professional Engineer status (CPEng) is advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience in civil infrastructure construction projects.
- Intermediate to advanced computer literacy (e.g. Microsoft Suite, scheduling software, AutoCAD etc.).
- Knowledge related to civil and structural design processes, demonstrating the ability to participate in conversations with technical experts.
