About the opportunitySouthern Cross University’s Centre for Teaching and Learning is seeking a Senior Education Designer to lead and support a team of Educational Designers, creating high-quality, innovative, industry-aligned unit design principles. The Senior Education Designer will also manage an exciting project transitioning existing learning sites from the Blackboard Classic system to our updated Blackboard Ultra.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to an educational design team, including work planning and performance management.
- Lead and support Educational Designers in engaging with SCU staff and external partners to enhance unit offerings.
- Identify and implement new educational design practices with a focus on emerging technologies and enhancing the Southern Cross Model.
Your ability to lead and inspire a diverse team of Educational Designers will be invaluable for this role. You will be passionate about creating impactful, high-quality learning materials that enhance the student learning experience and graduate outcomes.
More specifically, you will have:
- A degree qualification or higher in Educational Design (or related field) with at least four years’ subsequent experience in educational design in higher education.
- Experience designing for a diverse range of learners using universal design principles.
- Proficient in project management and leading diverse educational design projects to successful outcomes through effective communication and negotiation with multiple stakeholders.
- Highly developed investigative, conceptual, and analytical problem-solving skills, including the capacity for fast and efficient solutions to complex problems.
- Experience using Jira and Blackboard systems will be highly regarded.

- Full-time, continuing (permanent)
- Located at either Gold Coast, QLD 4225, or Lismore, NSW 2480. Generous relocation support available.
- HEW Level 7. The base salary ranges from $99,711 - $108,268 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $126,674.
