Senior Electrical Engineer

Paradigm Engineers is a Control System and Electrical Engineering consultancy serving projects Australia wide from our offices in Perth and Brisbane. We specialise in providing electrical, instrumentation, control systems and project management services to the mining, mineral processing and infrastructure industries. Our current projects include design, construction, commissioning and optimisation services for brownfield and greenfield mining, materials handling, mineral processing, and port facilities across multiple commodities including iron ore, salt, gold, coal and nickel.

About the opportunity

Due to an increase in awarded projects we have a role available for a Senior Electrical Engineer based in Belmont, Western Australia. We are looking for engineering professionals with solid experience in a similar role within a design and execution team.

The position will be responsible for

• Development of electrical designs for 415V MCCs and MV MCCs up to 6.6kV including:
  • Drawings: Single lines, Schematics, Terminations/Connection, PLC/Network, Equipment Layouts, Cable Schedules, Loops, Switchroom GA’s
  • Calculations: Maximum Demand, Switchroom heat load, cable size, arc flash.
  • Documentation: Scopes of Work, Procurement Specifications, Equipment Schedules, Datasheets, Drawing registers, Maintenance Manuals.
  • Equipment and Instrument selection.
  • Functional Safety.
• Coordinate drafting project works.
• MCC/Panel/Equipment Inspections.
• Interfacing with vendors & clients to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Assist with development of engineering / design effort hour estimates.
• Involvement with and promotion of Safety in Design.

The successful candidate will have:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering. 
• Experience in an Australian based Electrical Engineering role (mining experience preferred). 
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of the team.
• Keen eye for detail and a focus on quality and performance.
• Strong communication and computer skills. 
• Strong organisational and decision-making capabilities. 
• Strong technical documentation writing skills.
• Construction support and commissioning experience.

• Mobile machines: stackers, reclaimers, shiploaders.
• Functional safety.
• Engineers Australia CPEng.
• RPEQ.
