Our Cowal Gold Operation is an open-cut, underground and ore processing operation, located 40km Northeast of West Wyalong in NSW.
About the role
Reporting to Integrated planning manager, the purpose of this role is to develop, optimize, and communicate medium to long-term plans for the Open Pit deposits at CGO, leading project work to maximize the value of known and future Mineral Resources. The role also involves contributing to improving safety, production, cost performance, and data management associated with planning processes.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Developing effective relationships with stakeholders for safe designs and mine schedules
- Preparing and optimizing rolling forecasts and budgets aligned with company guidelines
- Collaborating on short-term plans to meet budget objectives
- Serving as Competent Person for Estimating and Reporting Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves
- Enhancing mine planning systems and procedures continuously
- Analysing mine performance, identify variances, and collaborate for improvement

About you
The ideal candidate must be a qualified Mining Engineer with membership in relevant professional bodies like the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) or the Institution of Engineering Australia. You will have proven experience in Open Pit Mine Planning or Mining Studies, with expertise in mine design, scheduling, cost evaluation, and optimization. Having supervisory experience in operations, technical services, or project management is essential, along with a strong understanding of safety systems and open pit production mining methods. The ideal candidate should also demonstrate proficiency in legislative and regulatory requirements, strong communication skills, and the ability to build relationships and influence management. Is is essential that you have strong organizational skills, the ability to adapt to change, have a results-driven attitude, are proficient in project management, contractor/consultant Management, MS Office tools, and mine planning and scheduling software like Deswik Suite. You will be capable acting as the Competent Person responsible for reporting Open Pit Ore Reserve.
