About this part of our organisation:
Our Zinc Assets in Australia include multiple & geographically dispersed operations, including underground and open pit mines, processing plants and port facilities. Lady Loretta Mine (LLM) is situated approximately 140kms northwest of Mount Isa. We have a compact owner’s team of employees who oversee and work closely with our contract mining partner to extract high grade zinc, silver and lead which is transported to Mount Isa for further processing. Typically, our team work on an 8/6 FIFO roster from either Brisbane, Townsville or Cairns, other options may be considered such as DIDO from Mount Isa if required.
About your potential new position:
Your primary purpose will be to work collaboratively with the team and our partners to deliver quality environmental outcomes and to adhere to Glencore and regulatory standards.
To deliver on that purpose some of your responsibilities will be:
- Working closely with colleagues and our contractor partner to deliver on environmental commitments.
- Project management of contractors and consultants including budgeting and reporting.
- Facilitating and preparing risk assessments, audits and reports.
- Supervision and mentoring of staff.
- Implementing mine rehabilitation and closure objectives.
- Several years environmental management experience.
- The ability to communicate effectively with a wide group of stakeholders on environmental solutions.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation and standards.
- Experience in managing environmental authorities and approvals.
- Open drivers’ licence.
