Your Opportunity
As the Senior Finance Business Partner, you will:
- Provide strategic support and guidance to the Financial Operations team and value-add analysis to key stakeholders that will assist with informed decision making.
- Coordinate the effective financial operations of the Region through the management of integrated activities within dynamic team-based environment
This position reports to the Regional Finance Manager.
This is a Temporary, Full-Time opportunity, to 28 June 2024 with the possibility of extension.
The position will be based primarily at Ashmore Campus however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake strategic and complex research and analysis using appropriate accounting, human resource and information management systems (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Technology One Finance, Data Warehouse and SMS) to understand drivers of financial performance and identify long term impacts on fiscal positioning.
- Provide accurate, timely, informative and reliable financial management advice and insights to the Regional Finance Manager, senior executives and other stakeholders through analysis and interpretation of complex financial data with understanding of key business drivers and trends.
- Assist the Regional Finance Manager to coordinate the region’s annual budget and forecast processes in conjunction with TAFE Queensland Corporate and service delivery planning, liaising and negotiating with relevant key stakeholders, addressing opportunities and risks in particular areas requiring focus and/or refinement based on evolving needs and changing business requirements.
- Through strong working relationships across the organisation work collaboratively with a range of internal stakeholders to analyse the financial performance of the organisation and provide advice regarding strategies to maximize the returns generated through core training delivery.
- Provide expert advice through interpretation of legislation, accounting standards, directives and Queensland Public Sector financial management policies, principles and practices and other relevant material impacting on Regional functions to provide accurate and timely advice on these as required.
- Assist Regional Finance Manager with internal and external audit responsibilities.
- Coordinate the development of training to meet the needs of Regional staff and improve their financial management knowledge and expertise.
- Maintain an understanding of the commercial aspects of TAFE including financial business performance and any impact from external factors.
- Contribute to improvement in business processes & practices.
- Undertake any other specific tasks and duties as directed by your manager to support both Regional and TAFE Queensland initiatives.
- Perform your daily activities to promote and support the TAFE Queensland values of Safety First, Working Together, and Focusing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility and Showing Initiative.
How you will be assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:
1. Demonstrated knowledge of accounting standards and experience in the application within a commercial operational environment to ensure financial management best practices.
2. Assist in development of commercial acumen and financial management competencies of staff across the Region, setting high standards and ensuring continual performance improvement.
3. Demonstrated analytical, conceptual and innovative problem-solving skills including the ability to independently research, analyse, develop and recommend options and implement solutions to enhance business performance and reform business processes.
4. Demonstrated skills to engage with colleagues, clients and stakeholders using an effective range of communication skills, including negotiation and facilitation processes to achieve mutually advantageous solutions.
5. Displays flexibility and responsiveness and has the initiative, attitude and ability to thrive within a dynamic, challenging and changing environment.
Highly Desirable Requirements
- Possession of a qualification as a Chartered Accountant or Certified Practicing Accountant.
- Minimum of five years financial accounting and system experience.
- At least five years’ experience in similar functions.
- Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
- Strong working knowledge of Business Information systems
