Senior Finance Officer

Join a large state government department here in Brisbane, playing a key part on developing their financial reporting.

You will have responsibility for undertaking the following key tasks:

• Building and developing PowerBI dashboards for monthly executive reporting. Building tools to be used by Management Accounting and Advice team members to assist in financial analysis;
• Assist with the preparation of budget forecasts and monitoring of financial performance, including coordinating the monthly accrual process and activities related to the management of the recurrent budget, for example, budget profiles, budget costing template and budget review process;
• Ensure accurate and timely financial processing in SAP, across a range of transactions, in order to meet the required DET legislative requirements, systems, practices and processes;
• Liaise with internal and external clients where required;
• Undertake research, analysis and evaluation to provide specialist advice, information and support services across a broad range of finance, budget and infrastructure program related issues;
• Support business improvements and provide support to managers and team members to implement improvement and promote best practice within the team; and
• Prioritise workload to ensure that services and programs are delivered within required timeframes.

• Strong understanding of management accounting principles, including experience with FTE reconciliation;
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including the ability to:
  • Utilise functions like XLOOKUP(), LET(), IFS(), Filter(), UNIQUE(), TEXTJOIN() etc;
  • Utilise Power Pivot functions; and
  • Create macros using VBA.
• Experience in developing financial models and dashboard reports using PowerBI;
• Ability to create Data model using multiple sources of data (mainly Excel based):
  • Ability to create DAX Measures and edit M query where necessary:
    • Use DAX time intelligence functions in Power BI Desktop models;
    • Use DAX iterator functions in Power BI Desktop models;
    • Modify DAX filter context in Power BI Desktop models;
    • Add measures to Power BI Desktop models;
    • Add calculated tables and columns to Power BI Desktop models; and
    • Good Understanding of Row context and filter context of data and how to manipulate them.
