Senior Financial Accountant

Minara Resources has an opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our established and dedicated Finance team based at our CBD office.

Minara Resources is Australia’s largest cobalt producer and a major world producer of nickel. Our Murrin Murrin site in WA’s northern Goldfields is an integrated nickel and cobalt mining and processing operation employing over 1,000 people. The Role
The successful candidate will become a member of a hardworking and committed team who can provide strong and comprehensive analysis on the financial impact of business decisions and proposing actions to improve performance, as well as ensuring statutory and corporate reporting requirements are met.

You will be responsible for:

• Provide timely accurate, clear and concise cost and management accounting information that will enable management and cost centre managers / superintendents to better understand their costs and facilitate effective and timely decision making
• Review department monthly and weekly costs to ensure their completeness and accuracy, completing accruals and prepayments where necessary
• Prepare weekly and monthly cost analysis and conduct monthly reviews of departmental costs against budgets
• Prepare financial commentary for monthly site cost performance and annual budgets / forecasts
• Prepare ad hoc financial analysis and reports as required
• Contribute to the preparation and consolidation of annual department budgets and periodic forecasts (maintenance and FTE)
• Reconcile specific balance sheet accounts and reporting accurately on the assets of the organisation
• Administer and maintain finance-related systems, including: Oracle EBS general ledger, Hyperion, and Epoch timesheets.

About You
Reporting directly to the Finance Director this hands on role would suit a person who can roll up their sleeves and has a can-do attitude.

You will also have:

• Extensive post qualification experience, exposure to working for a multi-national company advantageous
• A professional accounting qualification, CA or CPA
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, standards and procedures
• A strong ability to solve problems, offer solutions and make decisions
• The proficiency to critically analyse information and results
• Practiced time management skills in order to multi task and handle competing priorities and deadline driven environments
