Job description

The Bathla Group was established in 1997 and is thriving as one of the largest property developers and builders in New South Wales and Victoria, having completed over 10,000 dwellings since its humble beginnings. We have a significant portfolio of houses, townhouses, land lots and multi-story complexes at various stages of design and construction.

We believe our in-house talent is the key to our future. We achieve this through building a ‘best of breed’ team and encouraging individuals to achieve their personal-best through both personal and professional development.

Due to continued growth, we have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Financial Controller.

Your key priorities will be to:

  • Financial Reporting and Consolidation. Lead the financial reporting process, ensuring accurate and timely production of the monthly and annual financial statements following accounting standards (AASB) and local policies. Prepare consolidated financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Cash Flow Management and Treasury. Manage cash flow and liquidity, optimising working capital and ensuring sufficient funds are available for operational needs and capital investments. Assist in managing the various financing relationships and ensuring that all necessary reporting for any financial institution or lender is met.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting. Coordinate the budgeting and forecasting process by working with the operational team to develop comprehensive financial plans.
  • Financial Analysis and Performance Management. Conduct detailed financial analysis to assess the financial performance of individual entities and the group as a whole. Provide insights into key financial metrics, trends, and risks to support strategic decision-making.
  • Tax and Compliance. Oversee group tax reporting utilising third parties where appropriate and ensure compliance with Australian tax laws and regulations. Coordinate with external tax advisors to optimise tax efficiency.
  • Internal Controls and Risk Management. Establish and maintain robust internal controls and financial processes to safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Develop and implement a robust internal audit process to assess control effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Financial Systems and Process Improvement. Drive the optimisation and implementation of current and future financial systems and processes to streamline operations, enhance data integrity, and support scalability. Leverage technology solutions to automate routine tasks and improve reporting efficiency.
  • People Leadership and Development. Lead and mentor members of the finance team, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance team.
  • Communication. Maintain effective communication with all key stakeholders.
  • Workplace Health and Safety. Work in accordance with Work, Health and Safety legislation. Perform all tasks in a safe manner, so as not to endanger yourself and others around you. Ensure that all incident and safety concerns are reported immediately.

What Makes You Ideal for the Role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or CA qualification highly desirable.
  • An understanding of property and construction accounting would be advantageous.
  • Significant experience in senior finance roles, with a focus on financial management and consolidation.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, consolidation techniques, and financial reporting standards (AASB).
  • Experience with complex financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and ERP software, with the ability to implement process improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to a diverse range of stakeholders across the business.
  • Leadership experience, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Be a team player, self-motivated and able to work autonomously.
  • Unrestricted right to work in Australia.

This role will provide a motivated individual the opportunity to take their career to the next level whilst being part of a high functioning and performing results driven team.
