We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Food Technologist to join our renowned team. As a key member of our research and innovation department, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of chilled desserts and snacks experiences. From conceptualisation to commercialisation, you will lead projects that push the boundaries of taste, texture, and nutritional excellence.
Established in 2009, PDP Fine Foods is Australia’s market leading chilled dessert manufacturer and creators of the premium dessert brand Wicked Sister. Our brands are distributed across leading national retailers and food service channels within Australia and New Zealand.
Responsibilities
Innovative Product Development: Spearhead the creation of groundbreaking chilled desserts and snacks products from concept ideation through to final formulation. Utilise your expertise in food science and technology to develop unique recipes that captivate the senses and exceed consumer expectations.
Research & Analysis: Stay at the forefront of industry trends and emerging technologies. Conduct comprehensive research and analysis to identify opportunities for product enhancement and optimisation.
Technical Leadership: Provide guidance to cross functional team members, sharing your knowledge and expertise to foster their professional growth and development.
Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and refine existing recipes and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Implement best practices and innovative methodologies to elevate overall team performance.
Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance in all product development processes. Conduct thorough analysis and testing to guarantee product integrity and adherence to industry standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including marketing, operations, and supply chain to drive seamless integration of product development initiatives. Foster a culture of teamwork and innovation to achieve collective goals.
About You
You will be degree qualified in food science, and possess proven experience as a Senior Food Technologist (min 2 years) in food product development and food processing techniques, along with:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience post-graduation
- Demonstrated FMCG industry experience in a similar role (preference being dairy or desserts manufacturing)
- Strong ability to apply critical thinking and problem solving techniques to interpret data and draw meaningful conclusions to improve product development and quality
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, allowing effective collaboration with key stakeholders
- Strong relationship management ability (internal/external)
- Meticulous and accurate in conducting experiments and documenting results
- Sound knowledge of the Food Standards Code to meet Food safety, labelling and compliance regulations
- Open to learning new techniques, technologies and industry regulations
- A passion for food and a keen interest in exploring new culinary trends and consumer preferences
- Be flexible to work across core operating hours of the business including mornings, afternoons and weekends as required
