The New Acland Coal Mine (NAC), a thin seam open cut mining operation is owned and managed by New Hope Group. NAC based in Acland, 35km north-west of Toowoomba, has played a key role in the Darling Downs region as an employer and economic contributor since it began operation in October 2002.

We are seeking a Senior Health and Safety Advisor based on site in Acland to drive the review of the Safety & Health Management system and to provide safety advice, document review and risk assessment services.
About the role:
- Participate in the development and review of the site Safety & Health Management System documentation
- Assist site peers in the development of site and task specific risk assessments, procedures and processes, and conduct ongoing reviews to ensure their effectiveness and compliance
- Build and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at all levels to foster strong safety awareness
- Provide advice and support to management, employees, and contractors on the effective management of health and safety matters
- Conduct maintenance of the operational OH&S management systems
You will bring:
- Experience in the development and maintenance of Coal Mining Safety and Health Management Systems
- Demonstrated experience in the application of relevant legislation governing safety management of the Queensland coal mining industry
- Demonstrated experience and skills in conducting risk assessments, report writing and reviewing procedures
- Experience in SharePoint software and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite
- Internal Auditor Training and tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety (desirable)
- Demonstrated ability to complete tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of a mining operation, and ability to build productive relationships
- Time management skills and ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
