WeBuild as a D&C Contractor member, will be responsible for the successful delivery of the design and construction elements of the project, and we are currently looking to appoint Senior Health & Safety Advisors.
The Role:
As a Senior Health and Safety Advisor, your responsibility will be to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and best practices on construction sites.
You will play a vital role in maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel involved in construction projects, including employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
Your expertise and guidance will be critical in promoting a culture of safety and minimising the risk of accidents, injuries, and occupational hazards.
This position is a site-based role and it required to follow construction working time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Positively influence, and advise leaders and workers on HSEQ matters, requirements under legislation and the Integrated Management System, and drive forward the agenda for positive HSEQ change in the workplace.
- Maintain a sound knowledge of current legislation, policies and guidelines.
- Provide advice, training, consultation, monitoring and governance for compliance, to support stakeholders and ensure all relevant HSEQ legislation, policies and procedures are implemented and effective.
- Facilitate audits to ensure the HSEQ systems and activities at are implemented, effective, and in accordance with legislative and company requirements.
- Lead allocated site visits, inspections, incident investigations of multi-disciplinary sites including and especially construction-based activities.
- Develop and format high quality documents, presentation material, training material, and internal and external reports for stakeholders.
- Facilitate system administration for related HSEQ IT applications.
- Review/update Plans, Risk Assessments, Safe Work Method Statements, procedures, and other documents as required in conjunction with other stakeholders.
- Promote a strong safety culture with all employees and Sub-Contractor
- Stays informed and demonstrates an awareness of industry/ workplace IR issues
- Maintain the project library of safety legislation, standards and codes of practice
- Assist in carrying out site inductions and toolbox meetings
- Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Health and Safety Advisor in the construction industry, preferably within a Tier 1 Contractor organisation.
- Thorough knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and codes of practice, Rail industry will be an advantage.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, hazards, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to conduct comprehensive incident investigations and produce detailed reports with actionable recommendations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions in high-pressure situations.
