This role will be working as part of a small and collaborative team, responsible for delivering a range of People/HR services, including providing operationally focused HR advisory and consultancy services, particularly in the areas of industrial and employee relations, complex case management, performance management, industrial instruments, and HR policy and procedures.This role also typically manages and participates in key projects relating to employment arrangements, such as policy and procedure development and reviews, and discrete people related projects arising within the People Services function; and provides advice on emerging industrial and organisational change matters.Key responsibilities:
- Work proactively to understand the business operations and HR needs.
- Provide high level, authoritative and well researched advice to managers, and employees, to support the effective and consistent delivery of human resource business partnering services.
- Provide an internal HR consultancy service across the agency, including:
- employee relations, interpreting and applying public sector legislation, directives, policies, procedures, and agreements to manage complex and sensitive employee matters.
- prepare expert advice and advocacy for tribunals and commissions e.g. Queensland Industrial Relations Commission, Qld Human Rights Commission Queensland etc.
- workforce and succession planning, assisting leaders and managers to understand their current and future workforce needs and plan accordingly.
- performance and development planning, providing advice and support to managers and employees with their employee performance and planning processes, and the identification of current and future skill development requirements.
- Participate in the management of a range of allocated employment relations matters, initiatives and projects that can include the management of dispute resolution and/or emergent issues.
- Undertake research and analysis to develop advice, policy, procedure and strategic documents relating to complex employment matters.
- Maintain knowledge of contemporary HR practices, seeking opportunities for improvements to business process in line with strategic and business direction, with consideration of potential risks and legislative requirements.
- Produce, analyse and provide recommendations on workforce information and data to support workforce planning and effective establishment management practices.
