Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Senior Human Resources Officer will play a critical role in the overall human resources function for the business. This position involves developing and implementing the human resource strategy, policies, and management initiatives. You will collaborate closely with the leadership team driving employee engagement and supporting the professional development of all team members. Leading a small team, you will co-ordinate the development and implementation of key programs and initiatives to support our operational requirements and strategic goals.
The ideal candidate will have had experience across the retail industry, with a good understanding of Employee and Industrial Relations.
This role is based in our new state of the art, purpose built office space at Brisbane Airport and requires onsite work.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, update, and implement HR policies and procedures tailored to the needs of the business, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
- Partner with the leadership team to identify talent gaps and develop strategies for attracting, retaining, and developing top talent.
- Lead recruitment efforts for national office and corporate retail positions.
- Provide coaching and support to national office and retail managers on workplace policies and industrial relations issues, HR-related issues, including performance management, employee relations, and conflict resolution.
- Oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive training and development programs to enhance employee skills, competencies, and career progression.
- Support the business with succession planning.
- Lead initiatives to enhance employee engagement and morale.
- Stay informed about trends and developments in the retail industry and adjust HR strategies accordingly.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of senior HR experience in the retail industry, with a proven track record of success in a managerial role.
- Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment law, and regulatory requirements specific to the retail sector.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement HR initiatives that align with business objectives.
