About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior HSE Advisor to join our team. Location is negotiable with this role supporting the Sydney and Eastern Region of NSW/ACT.
As the Senior HSE Advisor reporting to the Regional HSE Manager, you will collaborate closely with operational leaders to drive the adoption of HSE best practices, interpret performance trends, and champion safety initiatives across WesTrac branches.
The role will require regular travel in support of our key branches in Regional NSW, with infrequent travel to smaller branches. A fully maintained vehicle will be provided with reasonable personal use permitted. This position is available on a full-time permanent basis, working Monday to Friday.
You will be an enthusiastic and adaptable individual who builds effective and lasting relationships. You will have good communication skills, a knack for getting the workforce motivated, and be able to deliver a high standard of health and safety support across our regional branches.
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and support to internal stakeholders to continually improve safety performance and drive behavioural change.
  • Conduct reporting and data analysis to provide insights on safety performance for the region.
  • Problem solve and provide hands on support and advice to ensure that operations are conducted in line with WesTrac policy and procedures.
  • Support branches with incident investigations and champion actions.
  • Maintain data in the HSE system and support a positive reporting culture.
  • Deliver strategies to position the business to achieve its HSE objectives.
  • Coordinate health, safety, environment, and employee well-being practices to attain a harm free workplace.
  • Establish genuine and meaningful partnerships with managers, customers, and key stakeholders.
  • Regularly engage with the workforce to promote a positive safety culture.
  • Assist with completing branch safety audits and inspections where required.
  • Influence, guide and mentor the HSE team and increase team capabilities.
Skills & Experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS with demonstrated experience in a business partnering role.
  • Extensive knowledge of current HSE legislative landscape including working knowledge and understanding of WHS and Mining NSW legislation
  • Qualifications in an ICAM (or similar methodology)
  • Formal qualifications and experience in auditing (Desirable)
  • Advanced computer literacy skills and HSE systems acumen
  • Natural ability to build rapport and establish relationships with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously while balancing a collaborative approach with the overall team
  • High attention to detail with the ability to identify continuous improvement initiatives
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to provide recommendations and action as required.
