Senior Investigation Officer

  • Clerk Grade 9/10 salary ranging from $120,859 to $133,183 pa. plus employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loadings

Your role

The NSW Ageing and Disability Commission (ADC) aims to promote the rights of adults with disability and older people, and to protect them from abuse, neglect and exploitation.

The Senior Investigation Officer role sits within the ADC's Community Supports and Investigations Unit, which conducts inquiries and investigations and takes appropriate further action to protect adults with disability and older people from abuse, neglect and exploitation in their family, home and community.

What you'll do

Key responsibilities of the Senior Investigation Officer include:

  • Undertaking the end-to-end investigation process, analysis and assessment of allegations of abuse, neglect and exploitation of adults with disability and older people in their family, home and community, including complex matters.
  • Providing high quality guidance and support in the triaging of cases, including undertaking timely risk assessments.
  • Taking timely and appropriate actions that are necessary to improve the safety and wellbeing of the adult with disability or older person.
  • Collecting, recording and maintaining accurate case information for assessment, investigation, information-sharing and reporting.
  • Undertaking effective stakeholder liaison, community engagement and capacity building activities to improve the prevention, identification and response to abuse, neglect and exploitation of adults with disability and older people.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of a framework and operational processes to manage allegations of abuse, neglect and exploitation of adults with disability and older people in their family, home and community.

What we're looking for

Essential requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent industry or professional experience in relevant area.
  • A valid drivers' licence and a willingness to travel.

In addition to the essential criteria, we're looking for someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • A commitment to the rights of adults with disability and older people.
  • The ability to manage a high workload that involves sensitive and complex matters and competing priorities.
  • Skills and experience in investigating matters involving financial abuse.
  • Experience communicating with people with diverse needs on difficult and sensitive matters.
  • A commitment to building a positive work culture that reflects teamwork, excellence, and continuous improvement.
