Reporting to the Principal Investigator, key duties and responsibilities of the Senior Investigator include:
- Coordinate and conduct complex and highly sensitive investigations of suspected breaches of the Act including taking witness statements, interviewing persons subject to investigations and other witnesses, and interpreting and applying legislated powers of investigators under the Act.
- Act impartially and ethically in the provision of advice concerning the assessment and management of complaints and investigations.
- Work collaboratively with other staff within LCIU and the wider organisation to deliver high quality, timely case management services for all assigned investigations into unsatisfactory professional conduct or offences against the Act to support the delivery of successful disciplinary and prosecutorial action by the Board.
- Develop and implement high level investigation plans, including risk assessments, in alignment with disciplinary and compliance/prosecutorial frameworks.
- Prepare complex investigation reports.
- Build networks with external stakeholders including other regulators such as the Queensland Building and Construction Commission, Workplace Health and Safety Queensland and engineering experts engaged by the Board who can provide input to support investigations in alignment with procurement and contractual frameworks.
- Act as a witness in Magistrates Court and QCAT proceedings as required to support successful prosecutorial and disciplinary action undertaken by the Board.
