A bit about the role
An exciting and challenging role that offers you something different every single day. Our City Compliance team are an innovative group of professionals that strive to set new standards. This challenging and rewarding role is on the frontline of services offered by Council to the local community with a broad spectrum of responsibilities.
What you’ll deliver
- Investigate dog attacks, illegal breeding and other complex matters under the Domestic Animals Act 1994.
- Investigate offences and promote compliance under the Casey Community Local Law.
- Prepare briefs of evidence and attend Magistrates Court as part of a prosecution.
- Issue infringement notices for non-compliance with legislation or Local Laws.
- Provide Councils animal management service which includes containing loose dogs, ensuring compliance for Declared Dangerous Dogs, securing stock out on roads and ensuring that regulations and Codes of Practice are adhered to by animal owners and Domestic Animal Businesses.
- Promote responsible pet ownership and engage with the community.
What you’ll bring
- Experience within investigation and law enforcement.
- Experience coaching and mentoring team members.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal with the public across a range of complex and challenging situations.
- Possess an Advanced Diploma of Justice, Diploma of Justice, a Certificate IV in Local Government Statutory Investigation and Enforcement, Animal Control and Regulation, or other relevant qualification or experience is essential for this position.
- Confidence around animals, particularly dogs.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check and Functional Assessment (Medical/physio).
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
