Your New Role
Reporting to Principal, Insurance Operations & Claims, the Senior Manager, Claims Operations will establish and uplift the operating model (including training, systems, policies and procedures) that will allow the Bereavement and Claims teams to deliver high quality case management services to the families and loved ones of deceased members. This role will not have any direct reports however will be instrumental in supporting and uplifting the two teams that oversee and deliver claims management services to the families and loved ones of deceased members.
Key duties include but are not limited to:
- Be a subject matter expert in Insurance and Claims, share knowledge and experience with others.
- Assist with delivery of interim and target states whilst transforming the operating model.
- Demonstrate and deliver active operations management balancing the cost, quality, and service to provide an improved level of service and experience for Members.
- Build and embed ways of working, business rules, policies, processes and training plans for a newly established inhouse Bereavement team.
- Represent the team and make key business decisions regarding the transformation of the future operating model. This will include providing requirements for technology and systems, as well as the development of a knowledge management catalogue, correspondence templates, business rules, processes, and procedures.
- Lead and Chair the Insurance Claims committee and participate as a voting member of the committee.
- Act as trustee representative for claim related external disputes (i.e. AFCA and litigation) when required.
- Ensure the team has adequate resources and culture to meet goals and operational plans of AustralianSuper - right people, right place, right skills, at the right time.
- Understand the requirements of the Fund and its Members and other stakeholders (e.g. Board, Board Sub-committees, regulators), including the Fund’s strategic and departmental objectives and agreed service levels.
- Ensure the team demonstrates ongoing continuous improvement.
What You’ll Need
- Experience with leading claims teams through change and developing new operating models, systems, processes and frameworks.
- Extensive industry experience in a claims management role in superannuation or insurance.
- RG146 compliant
- Specialist knowledge of trust deeds, insurance policies and Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act (SIS Act) Legislation.
- Well established understanding of the tools needed to enable highly engaged and productive claim teams.
- Extensive experience in working under pressure, setting and manage multiple conflicting priorities and meeting specified timeframes.
