Zoos Victoria operates four landmark zoos, Healesville Sanctuary, Kyabram Fauna Park, Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo. The Senior Manager Digital Newsroom ensures Zoos Victoria has a high media profile which promotes Zoos Victoria's core fighting extinction message and encourages visitation across all four Zoos Victoria properties. Leading a team across the three zoo properties, this role supports and enables "reporters" to create powerful and inspiring publicity, strategically targeted to appeal to Zoos Victoria's target audiences.
The ideal candidate for this position will be tertiary qualified in communications or journalism, strengthened by considerable professional experience leading teams and working with journalists and media. They will be high skilled at negotiating and pitching to media, with an instinctive nose for a great news story and will have exceptional attention to detail and written communication ability. Experience working for or with government, NFP or conservation organisations will be a great asset in this position, as will a positive, resilient and team-oriented attitude.
