The Role
Reporting to the Head of Member Office, Member Engagment, you will support the Member Office in meeting the RSEL Boards’ Regulatory responsibilities and expectations.
You will lead the strategic business planning sessions that are focused on the delivery of quality member outcomes as well as provide oversight and challenge activities relating to the provision of advice, including general, intrafund, personal/comprehensive advice and adviser engagement activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight and challenge the annual business planning process including the RSEL business plans, Business Performance reviews and Legislated Outcomes Assessments.
- Assisting the RSEL Boards to fulfil their prudential requirements including, but not limited to, the following Prudential Standards SPS 220, SPS521 and SPS 515.
- Provide coaching and support to other members of the team
- Manage the relationship with Corporate Affairs & Marketing.
- Build solid working relationship with relevant functional areas and promote the Member Office.
- Monitor competitor activity and industry trends to inform strategic planning and appropriate benchmarking.
- Possess a strong understanding of the products and services provided to members.
- Stay up to date with industry initiatives, reforms, and regulations to provide independent strategic and technical advice to RSEL Directors, including monitoring and assessing the impact of regulatory/business change on the superannuation business.
- Provide advice to Service Providers on the RSELs’ expectations, and aide Service Providers in effectively delivering high quality reports and information to the RSEL Boards.
- Advocate the fiduciary role of the RSELs inside Insignia, acting in the interest of members and being an independent advocate for the RSEL Directors in the management and identification of conflicts of interest.
- Collate and support the preparation and review of relevant board and board committee papers and provide appropriate recommendations as per Member Office remit and take all reasonable steps to ensure that reporting provided to the RSEL Boards’ complies with all obligations under relevant laws and prudential and regulatory requirements.
- Create an environment which fosters open dialogue and challenge with the Member Office and Service Providers.
- Build effective relationships with external stakeholders, professional bodies and all levels of management fostering trust and expanding the knowledge and importance of the superannuation business within Insignia.
- Maintain strong relationships with Directors / Committee members in order to facilitate a strong collaborative working environment.
- Foster a deep understanding of members and their needs within the Member Office
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Extensive experience in financial services/ superannuation/ wealth industry.
- Extensive experience in strategy and business planning
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Ability to plan, lead and execute activity across teams
- Deep technical skills to manage diverse executive and senior management stakeholders across all Registrable Superannuation Entity License activities. In particular, possess a thorough understanding of product / service complexities and the associated risks posed by these complexities.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others and foster a positive team environment
- Significant wealth product knowledge.
- High level awareness of superannuation law, including SIS Act, Corporations, APRA and ASIC prudential standards and guidance (as relevant), and the superannuation regulatory environment.
