The Role
In this key role you will work with the Head of Regulatory Relations to drive regulatory risk reporting and provide data and insights to facilitate constructive communications and engagements with regulators in a proactive, transparent, and efficient manner.
You will also provide strategic insights on our regulatory engagements and synthesise complex information to prepare insightful reporting and maintain comprehensive engagement records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of Regulatory Relations to manage regulatory relationships proactively, transparently and efficiently.
- Operationalise the Regulatory Engagement Framework and Procedures, and monitor for non-compliance.
- Develop and maintain a group wide regulatory commitments register that is fit for purpose in a complex environment and ensure Insignia has complete / accurate records of all regulatory interactions.
- Responsible for developing and driving meaningful data analytics to support the work of the team.
- Assist with drafting insightful reports for Board, Committee and Executives.
- Support the Head of Regulatory Relations with the Regulatory Engagement Forum.
- Make sure that regulatory deliverables are on time, comprehensive and complete to improve trust with regulators.
- Provide strategic regulatory risk advice and insights to stakeholders, as well as oversight, challenge and review of regulatory communications.
- Demonstrate strong technical skills, the ability to understand new regulatory requirements (e.g. FAR), and how they should be communicated and embedded across the organisation.
- Strong stakeholder management skills including the ability to coordinate regulatory responses and to influence internal business stakeholders when required.
- Review, streamline, and uplift Regulatory Relations team processes.
- Help drive and maintain a strong and resilient culture of risk and compliance across the business.
- Undertake and assist with regulatory reviews as required.
- Provide advice, guidance and training to stakeholders on engaging with regulators.
- Ensure required licensee obligations and licence conditions continue to be met.
- Be known as a trusted advisor and partner that business teams can consult with to respond to regulatory matters.
To Be Successful in This Role You Will Possess:
- Undergraduate degree in Business/Commerce, Law, or relevant subjects (mandatory).
- Postgraduate studies in Risk, Compliance, Law and/or Finance (well regarded).
- Extensive demonstrated experience in risk roles in complex financial services organisations.
- Experience in working in a Regulatory Relations function or similar.
- A strong practical understanding of regulatory requirements of regulators including APRA, ASIC, ACCC, as they apply to a complex Australian financial service provider.
- An excellent understanding of relevant financial services laws and landscape in Australia.
- Ability to build trusted working relationships and to be able to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong ability to analyse complex information to distil insights.
- Strong writing abilities and attention to detail in assessing and responding to regulatory correspondence, report writing, regulatory documentation.
- Experience in working in complex businesses undergoing significant transformation and remediation.
- Ability to share knowledge and experience, coach and develop team members.
