Our Risk, Compliance and Audit team is a key pillar under Curtin University’s governance structure. The team ensure the University operates efficiently and effectively in compliance with relevant laws and regulations and that risk management, business continuity and resilience, and incident management processes are successfully integrated within the University’s operations.

Your new role
As a Senior Manager Risk and Compliance, you will work closely with the Director, Risk, Compliance and Audit to lead and manage the delivery of an effective risk and compliance management framework.
The role key elements include:
Strategic – You will provide strategic advice and facilitate discussions at senior levels regarding strategic, operational, business resilience and compliance risk, risk appetite and risk and compliance controls assurance.
Leadership and Management – You will lead continuous improvements and enhance the Risk and Compliance Frameworks. You will actively coach, mentor others, and as a people centric collaborator, support and empower through effective talent management, career planning, performance reviews and contribute to the operational management of the area.
Governance – You will develop, implement, and maintain governance systems, tools and processes related to the management of risk, legislative and regulatory compliance, and business resilience to embed a positive compliance and governance culture.
Relationship & Stakeholder Engagement – You will establish credibility and leverage multi-stakeholder engagement to raise risk and compliance awareness across the University and to ensure alignment of activities with broader area plans, priorities, and policies.
We are looking for someone with…
Postgraduate qualifications combined with a demonstrated experience in Risk & Compliance Management.
Expertise in and demonstrated knowledge of the International Standards for risk and compliance programs including AS ISO 31000:2018, Risk Management and ISO 37301:2021 Compliance Management Systems.
Policy experience, and ability to conceptualise, develop and refine, policies and procedures.
Significant high-level creative, planning and management skills with the demonstrated ability to achieve business objectives, operating within complex organisational structures.
Ability to negotiate and effectively simplify and articulate complex technical knowledge to a wide range of audiences.
