CIMIC sets the strategic direction, financial expectations, risk profile and governance framework for the CIMIC Group and monitors the performance of its Operating Companies (CPB Contractors, UGL, Leighton Asia, Sedgman, Devine, Pacific Partnerships and EIC Activities) and investments (Thiess).
Overview
The primary purpose of this role is to provide analytical support, specifically building transaction models and assisting with research and due diligence. This role will suit a highly motivated and experienced Strategy, Investment & Acquisitions Manager with strong communication skills.
Key responsibilities for the role include:
- Critically analyse data and third party research reports, considering the actual or possible impact on the Group strategic position.
- Monitor industry developments, economic drivers and competitor activity relevant to investment, divestment and acquisition decisions.
- Develop and / or review financial models for investments, divestments or acquisitions forecasting and evaluation purposes.
- Develop and update databases to retain market and transaction information for potential and current investments, divestments and acquisitions.
- Assist with due diligence of selected transaction opportunities.
- Deliver project, ad hoc and routine analysis to the M&A team and other group executives as required.
- Present data in a way that is capable of clear communication to key stakeholders.
Education and Qualifications required for this role:
- Degree qualified in Finance, Accounting or related discipline
- Qualified as a Chartered Accountant and/or CFA advantageous
- Professional memberships highly regarded
Experience, Skills and Behavioural Competencies required for this role:
- Ideally 10-15 years’ experience in analytical role within a Corporate M&A team, bank or transactional accounting firm
- Experience working in M&A in an ASX listed company, preferably with global operations.
- “Big 4” global accounting firms experience is advantageous
- Extensive knowledge of key finance concepts, particularly in relation to mergers and acquisitions and equity markets
- Ability to grasp new concepts quickly and adapt to changing situations Strong attention to detail and project management skills
- Intelligent research capabilities
- Commercially focused
- Ability to work autonomously, proactively and as part of a team.
- Adept communication, presentation, interview and listening skills.
- Proven relationship management skills, including the ability to influence across multiple levels and across business units and divisions.
- A track record of timely delivery of required outputs that meet stakeholder expectations.
- Ability to think laterally and analytically, applying innovation to M&A challenges.
- Thorough knowledge of M&A methodologies or equivalent relevant industry or technical expertise.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and cope with pressure
- Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Word capability and the ability to create meaningful presentations to sophisticated audiences
