The role
The Senior Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for managing and executing multi-disciplinary, brownfield, engineering projects from conception to completion. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, HSE, operations, process safety and project services to ensure that projects are delivered on time, to company standards and on budget. This is a role where maintaining strong collaboration with stakeholders, suppliers, specialists and project teams will be essential to success.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing brownfield projects ensuring that safety, scope, quality, cost, scheduling and reporting requirements are met;
- Conducting feasibility studies, evaluating design alternatives and optimising performance;
- Developing design, procurement and construction scopes of works in consultation with discipline engineers and other stakeholders;
- Understanding the business needs and drivers and making sound commercial and technical decisions; Identifying and mitigating potential risks throughout the project lifecycle; and
- Evaluating vendor proposals.
Selection criteria
A tertiary qualification in mechanical engineering is essential as is substantial experience working in a heavy manufacturing, mining or minerals processing environment. You will need a keen interest in continuous improvement, be familiar with working closely with operations and have a demonstrated track record in managing multiple projects. The ability to balance operational, technical and commercial drivers in your decision-making process will be highly regarded as will your high-level written and verbal communication skills and project management capability.
