SENIOR MINE OPERATIONS ENGINEER
Fosterville Gold Mine invites suitably qualified and experienced individuals to apply for the position of Senior Mine Operations Engineer. Responsible for the oversight of Mining Contractors and the Mine Control system together with associated personnel who report to the Mine Operations department. This position will oversee the short-term scheduling of the Mine Operations with a focus on safely achieving the mine plan.
Reporting to the Mine Operations Superintendent, your dutieswill include:
Leadership
- Actively promoting and at all times displaying behaviours that reinforce the sites OHS and environmental policies.
- Assist Mine Operations Superintendent in strategic planning for the current and future Underground Operations.
Short-Term Scheduling Activities:
- Oversee the Mine Operations Engineer to ensure the weekly plan is accurate, clear and meets the requirements of the 3MRS.
- Provide input into mining method selection, scheduling detail and mine design, including the review and sign off of plans.
Mine Control
- Ensure the Mine Control Supervisor receives sufficient resources and support to complete their role and maintain the systems.
- Develop skills within the team, and lead improvement initiatives within Mine Control to achieve improvements in data quality and data use.
Contractor Management
- Ownership of department contractor administration including the collecting, reviewing, confirming/verifying and representing the data generated by mining department contractors (including Mine Control data, plod data, safety data etc.)
People
- Ensure team members are adequately trained and competent to complete their current role.
- Motivate and encourage the team to reach their full potential and drive positive outcomes for the team and the individual.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in the development and implementation of new and improved methods of operation and use of materials, technologies and equipment
- Undertake a proactive approach to your own professional development
The successful candidate should possess the following:
- Mining Engineering Degree (or equivalent)
- First Aid Ticket – Level 2 (desirable)
- Previous experience in Mining Engineer roles, with underground mining and scheduling experience
- Excellent understanding of underground work practices and procedures
- Excellent computer skills including mining software packages (Deswick) and the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook);
- Previous experience using INX and Pronto (desirable)
The roster for this residential position will be 5/2 Monday to Friday with an option to have a flexi roster of 4/3.
A competitive salary will be offered commensurate with the successful applicant’s qualifications, knowledge and experience.
