Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area's occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we're looking for
As a Senior Mining Engineer, you will be leading the mining engineering team in the planning and delivery of our future caves. Key responsibilities will include:
Technical / Operational
Responsibility for delivery of properly completed and reviewed designs and planning for establishment and growth of caves
Collaborate with operations leadership for best outcomes
Lead the short-term planning team for underground operations and drill and blast on the cave footprint
Provide inputs into Weekly, Monthly, and Long-term Schedules
Lead in identifying, reporting, and making recommendations on critical paths, bottlenecks, and key milestones
People and Planning
Leadership, mentoring and supervising junior mining engineers
Collaborating with execution, project stakeholders and the Integrated Planning team to maximise effectiveness and optimise delivery of new block caves
Evaluate and prioritise the work of the team to deliver in both the short and long term
Succession planning (upskilling others); and recruiting for positions with team
Continuous improvement - ability to recognize and influence positive change for the team
Our ideal candidate will have a relevant Mining degree qualification, but this is not essential. It will also be advantageous to have a NSW Mining Engineering Manager certificate of competence, or the ability to gain one.

The ability to lead an inclusive mine engineering team in the successful delivery of our future caves
Qualified Mining Engineer >5 years' relevant experience in design and operations; preferably with exposure to a large-scale underground mining operations
Competent in the use of Deswik mining software packages
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) towards management and to operational levels
Ability to think strategically and effectively collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders
The ability to work and lead the team autonomously
Highly Advantageous
Experience at caving operations - specifically on the footprint during block/panel cave establishment
A strong commitment to business improvement and maximising performance through bottom-up initiatives
