About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer to join our Central Functions Line of Business reporting to the Network Engineering Manager. We are flexible in terms of the location of work and will consider applications from VIC / SA / NSW.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
You will be responsible for aspects of the design, maintenance and optimisation of the corporate Networking infrastructure.
You will ensure the reliability, scalability and security of the Networking environments while taking a leadership role in guiding and mentoring junior members.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide input into project tasks including requirements gathering, design, implementation and transition to support
- Maintain and support the corporate networking environments ensuring efficient, scalable and highly redundant architecture is maintained at all times
- Lead recovery action in the event of a network failure or major network incident
- Produce and maintain detailed and clear documentation in the form of High and Low level designs, as-built, how-to knowledge base and troubleshooting articles
- Lead the specification, design and implementation aspects of the WAN and LAN networks that meet or exceed industry standard best practices
- Provide mentorship to other Network Engineers and support staff in both technical and soft skills
- Extensive proven experience in designing, implementing and supporting Enterprise networking environments including LAN, WAN and DataCentre
- Significant experience designing, implementing and supporting Palo Alto Firewalls, F5 ADCs, Cisco LAN/WAN, Cisco Wireless, Cisco ISE
- Deep understanding of foundational technologies and ability to utilise to adapt to new systems
- Demonstrated Experience with security best practices and compliance standards
- Experience with Network Automation using Ansible, Python or others
- Experience with the configuration and day-to-day operation of Cisco ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure) and SDN (Software Defined Networking) will be an advantage
- Ability to negotiate with and influence internal and/ or external stakeholders in a way which generates business benefit whilst maintaining key relationships
- Ability to use and adapt written and verbal communication skills to suit a variety of difference audiences is critical to this role
- Exceptional problem-solving capabilities
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
