ABOUT THE ROLE:This Senior Pastoral Care role provides clinical leadership for the team practising spiritual care. The position requires leadership of spiritual care provision in a healthcare context - that is -able to function as a Senior Practitioner. This role reports to the Pastoral Care Manager, Mercy Hospitals Victoria Ltd. You will be part of a dynamic team in a tertiary healthcare context with a diverse patient population, to ensure holistic care.
  • Part Time, Permanent, .8EFT/ 60.5 hours/fortnight
  • Provides clinical leadership and expertise in the provision of spiritual care at Mercy Hospital for Women
  • Skilled and flexible in responding to complex patient situations, including loss and bereavement
  • Strong emphasis on leading and conducting quality activities in a tertiary healthcare context
  • Facilitation of supervision, clinical education and support of the Pastoral Care team
  • Collaborative engagement with Pastoral Care Manager and the interdisciplinary team, to ensure best practice in spiritual care
About the department - The Mercy Hospital for Women Pastoral Care service ensures holistic care by collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to address the spiritual dimension of patient care. The Senior Pastoral Carer leads a small team of clinicians to respond to the diverse pastoral and spiritual needs of patients and families within a complex tertiary health context.ABOUT YOU:
  • Spiritual Care Australia (SCA) Certified Advanced Level Membership or eligible
  • Capacity to function as a Senior Practitioner (SCA) - across all five domains of practice.
  • Willingness to lead a small team and ensure effective response to pastoral care needs
  • Comprehensive understanding of grief and bereavement
  • Demonstrated time management and organisational skills in a complex healthcare context, with at least 5 years' experience
  • Enthusiastic and motivated to lead change and quality projects
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills, with a strong focus on collaboration with Interdisciplinary Teams
