UGL Utilities division is seeking an experienced Senior Project Planner.
The Utilities business are the preferred contractor on two of the largest energy infrastructure projects within the Australian energy sector, one of these projects is located in Queensland and the other in New South Wales. These two exciting opportunities secure a pipeline of work until 2027 and include the design & construction of new transmission lines and substations.
Hunter Power Project is the construction of a 660MW Power Station comprising of two heavy-duty open cycle gas turbines. Located in the in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, 35 km west of Newcastle.
UGL's utilities business undertakes essential design & construction services for critical infrastructure in the power and water sectors. Our end-to-end delivery ranges from transmission lines, switchyards, substations, electrical distribution through to water and wastewater treatment plants and water pipelines
As a Senior Project Planner and reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the role is accountable for providing detailed planning and project controls capability to UGL’s Projects team, including scheduling/planning, delay analysis, productivity and progress reporting, forecasting, estimating support and detailed analysis to identify efficiencies and project delivery improvements.
You will contribute to the development and maintaining of the Project control system and reporting tools whilst responsible for Planning and Scheduling on the project.
Some key responsibilities of this role will include:
All planning and scheduling activities across various projects providing technical support to line manager and project delivery teams
Analysing critical path activities and providing mitigation and strategies for potential risks or improvement opportunities
Applying Earned Value principles to projects to measure progress & produce S-curves
Document variations, delays & disruptions to justify commercial claims
Development and distribution of reports and dashboards as required
Resource project programs to assess project resourcing requirements
Build tender & construction programs that reflect agreed methodologies, key milestones and contractual obligations
Incorporating business best practice policies whilst monitoring and evaluation planning and scheduling systems and procedures to ensure accuracy, compliance and alignment with project requirements.
About You
Degree qualification in Engineering or similar discipline
Between 7 - 10 years previous experience in a similar role within construction & engineering
Ability to coordinate multiple tasks within restricted timeframes to support line of business and project goals
Highly proficient in the use of Primavera P6 and MS Project
Strong understanding of Earned Value principles and previous experience in the application to projects
Strong understanding of commercial obligations for projects
Previous onsite planning & scheduling experience on large construction projects such as Oil and Gas, Power, Water and/or Infrastructure is highly beneficial
Excellent relationship building, problem solving, negotiation and leadership skills
