Accountability Statement: Accountable to the Planning Team Leader, the Senior Planning Officer will assist with the monitoring of effective and efficient operation of the Planning function in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
Position Objective: As a member of the Development Team, the Senior Planning Officer will contribute to the delivery of efficient, effective, appropriate, and timely provision of statutory and strategic planning services while also providing mentoring to the Planning Officer. Adopt a proactive and solution-oriented approach to planning.
Responsibilities:
- Process planning applications in compliance with legislation and procedures.
- Provide advice on planning schemes, policies, and amendments.
- Represent the Council in public forums and legal proceedings.
- Establish positive communication with stakeholders and educate on statutory requirements.
- Demonstrate excellence in customer service and contribute to corporate objectives.
- Maintain records, manage risks, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or related field.
- Minimum three years of professional experience in town planning.
- Knowledge of planning legislation and compliance issues.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Understanding of Local Government operations.
- Current Driver's license and National Police Check.
