About the role

  • Full-time, 38 hours, 5 days per week or part-time, 30.4 hours, 4 days per week. 
  • Fixed-Term contract for 2 years from date of commencement. 

 

Position Purpose: 

  • To deliver the Working together for safety project. This work is made possible through a WorkSafe grant that aims to promote and support the importance of Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) in the disability sector.
  • To drive and participate in Victorian Sector Development Activities to gain insights into sector concerns that inform advocacy, and provide tailored support as required, with a focus on Quality and Safeguarding activities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational – the main focus of this project is to deliver the Working together for safety project, raising awareness of senior leaders a, managers and frontline workers on the importance and benefits of HSRs in the workplace. This position will undertake a wide range of engagement activities to engage the sector, including organising and delivering online forums, producing practical resources, pod/webcasts and other online resources, and contributing to the running of related network meetings.
  • People – this position have connections with disability servicers providers throughout Victoria, with the NDS VIC State Manager and other Victorian Team Members and others through NDS. There will be engagements with key personnel Government and Government agencies including WorkSafe, and includes key stakeholder management, team management/supervisory responsibilities, development of own skills and those of the team
  • Strategic – to identify concerns and report insights from engagement with the sector that informs advocacy, and provide enables NDS to provide tailored support as required.
  • Co-ordinate the delivery of the Working together for safety project including the management and administration of reporting obligations
  • Prepare an array of communications collaterals to support the Working together for safety project
  • Ensure strong collaboration with NDS personnel both within Victoria and in related roles Nationally, to share knowledge, resources and experience.
  • Develop strong working relationships within own team, with other NDS teams and with key external stakeholders, including WorkSafe.
  • Build the skills and capabilities of self and any direct reports through learning and development activities
  • Contribute to the achievement of the NDS strategy through participation in special initiatives and programs
  • In consultation with manager suggest improvements in delivery of the project to improve the quality, effectiveness and efficiency

 

Other Responsibilities (applicable for all NDS employees):

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by manager/supervisor from time to time
  • Comply with NDS’s policies and procedures at all times, including (but not limited to) HR, Quality, Work Health & Safety (WHS), IT, Security, and Data Privacy

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated project management and administrative skills and proven capability to support multi-faceted projects delivered on time and on budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate, analyse and report on issues of importance to service providers
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex material and deliver high quality advice
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain networks with a range of stakeholders and publicly present complex information, so it is easily understood by a wide range of audiences.
  • Proactive and self-driven.  Is resilient and adaptable to change course of action as needed.
  • Strong organisational skills, initiative, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Proficiency with the MS Office Suite
  • Is competent in using online presentation platforms such as Zoom or MS Teams
  • Capacity for independent travel
  • A tertiary qualification in a related discipline.
