About Our Team:
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Western Australia offer support, advice and treatment to children and adolescents from birth to 18 years who are experiencing mental health challenges.
As an integral part of the wider CAMHS Corporate team, the Policy Team creates, develops, monitors, and reviews policies, procedures, and guidelines specific to CAMHS, to enable the safe delivery of services across Acute, Specialised, and Community services. The team also works with the Child and Adolescent Health Services (CAHS) to facilitate and provide feedback for CAHS policies that have practical implications for CAMHS.
About the Role:
As the Senior Portfolio and Policy Officer, you will have oversight of managing and implementing CAMHS policies. You will work across the breadth of CAMHS Directorates in Acute, Community, and Specialised Services, liaising with Service Managers and multi-disciplinary teams to understand the obligations and compliance for reporting and Policy review cycles. You will bring your subject matter expertise in policy management, and maintain up to date knowledge of policy or legislative changes impacting operations for mental health services, such as the Mental Health Act and Office of Chief Psychiatrist's Standards of Clinical Care.
You will also lead the development of strategic policy initiatives relating to mental health with an emphasis on facilitating health improvements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in accordance with government and health system objectives.
CAMHS is continually evolving our services with a focus on enabling safe and best practices in the way we deliver care; the Senior Policy and Portfolio Officer will be instrumental in enabling this. Come join our team and play a part in shaping the state of mental health service in WA!
Current knowledge of policy and legislation relating to operation of mental health services, such as the Mental Health Act, and Office of Chief Psychiatrist's Standards of Clinical Care is desirable. A tertiary qualification in a relevant clinical discipline is desirable.
