The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the development and delivery of a number of Queen Victoria Market (QVM) Project Renewal Program works projects on time, to budget and within the scope and quality in project briefs.
The Senior Project Manager role is accountable across the full development project lifecycle and for the delivery of assigned projects associated with the QVMPR Program, including project planning, undertaking technical due diligence, preparing project scopes and specifications, budget and schedule management, procurement / tendering, managing consultants and contractors, stakeholder management, contract administration, risk reporting and project management across the project lifecycle in order to deliver high quality, sustainable project outcomes and achieve QVMPR Program milestones.
Critical to the success of this role is the ability to work with other Precinct Renewal team members, Queen Victoria Market Pty Ltd (QVM Pty Ltd) and other key stakeholders to deliver the Program requirements whilst ensuring the continued operation of the market and minimising disruption where possible.

What you will bring to City of Melbourne (selection criteria)
- A relevant tertiary qualification to degree level in project management and/or related field such as construction management, architecture, urban design or engineering, or other requisite experience.
- Extensive experience in project management, including development and management of high value, complex projects in a large and diverse organisation with multiple stakeholders.
- Prior experience delivering projects within a “live” operating environment and with multiple stakeholders is desirable.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies, with an ability to coach others in project management methodologies.
- Proven ability to concurrently project manage a number of different projects on time, to budget and to client satisfaction.
- Demonstrated experience in managing projects within a structured reporting framework.
- Excellent time management and prioritising skills being able to juggle many issues at once and being responsible for ensuring all matters are handled in a timely, professional manner with stakeholders informed of progress as appropriate.
- Proven ability to lead, develop and motivate a team, including external consultants and contractors.
- A demonstrated understanding of standard forms of construction contracts and building industry practices.
- Excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills with the ability to deal with a diverse range of stakeholders with a broad range of expectations and client needs which are often of a competing nature.
- Highly developed analytical, lateral thinking and problem solving skills and the ability to take the initiative, drive changes and implement innovations.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and persuasion skills with the ability to use discretion and judgment in a complex business and political environment.
- High level communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to convey and impart project information within an easy to understand format.
- Ability to work within a high pressure environment and effectively managing multiple priorities within a complex environment.
