UGL's Utilities business provides essential projects and services for critical infrastructure across the water and power sectors. Ranging from wastewater treatment plants to power stations, Utilities provide an end-to-end offering from concept design through to operations and maintenance.

Our offerings include design, construct, commission, operate and maintain across the following capabilities: Power generation, Transmission lines, Substations, Electrical distribution, Water and wastewater treatment.  The Utilities business are the preferred contractor on two of the largest energy infrastructure projects within the Australian energy sector, one of these projects is located in Queensland and the other in New South Wales.

These two exciting opportunities secure a pipeline of work until 2027 and include the design & construction of new transmission lines and substations.

We have an immediate opportunity for a Senior Quality Advisor, experienced in Transmission Lines, Substations, or Renewable Energy to join our HSEQ team based in Sydney or Brisbane.

The Senior Quality Advisor role is responsible and accountable for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust Power Generation Quality Management Systems. This is a crucial for ensuring project compliance and contractual obligations, as well as CIMIC/UGL policies, relevant legislation, and recognized industry standards are adhered to.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Championing the UGL Quality Principles throughout the Utilities line of business
  • Ensuring the UGL Quality Fundamentals are understood and effectively implemented.
  • Reviewing assigned technical documentation and ensure correct specifications and drawings etc are included/ referred to in Work Packs and Inspection & Test Plans.
  • Providing quality guidance, training, and mentorship to geographically dispersed teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Monitoring all quality related activities on the project.
  • Implementing a dashboard to track quality performance across the Utilities line of business.
  • Developing and/or facilitate the development of inspection & test plans and associated check/inspection records.
  • Determining measurement capability appropriate to the activities and ensure that calibrated measuring and test equipment is available.
  • Verifying suitability of qualifications/experience of personnel assigned (including subcontractors) to undertake inspection activities.
  • Coordinating and/or undertake inspection activities and prepare inspection records as required by the ITPs.
  • Monitoring the completion of Quality Records associated with assigned Work Packs and construction lots.
  • Initiating and verifying the suitability of corrective or preventive action where required to eliminate existing or potential causes of non-conformance.
  • Assisting with the resolution and close out of quality non conformances.
  • Reviewing and compiling inspection records for compliance with agreed requirements and for inclusion with the Manufacturer’s Date Report.
  • Preparing status reports covering assigned work areas in accordance with Project requirements.
  • Undertaking quality audit.
  • Assembling cost control and statistical data, as needed, in support of quality objectives.
  • Providing quality input, review, and advice for tender submissions
  • Undertaking Lessons Learnt and sharing findings across UGL.

The successful candidate will require:

  • Proven experience in quality management principles, methodologies, and tools, ideally with specific experience in transmission lines, substations, or the renewable energy sector. 
  • Appropriate technical qualifications
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Be personally committed to delivering high-quality results.
  • Demonstrate a hands-on approach to achieving results.
  • AS9001 Knowledge
  • Quality auditing experience and qualifications
  • Site experience and travel required – when required.
  • Minimum basic skills – Microsoft Office suite.
  • Completions Management experience is desirable.
