The opportunity
This role is accountable for proactively detecting and protecting UniSuper and its members from cyber threats, exposures, and vulnerabilities across the entire UniSuper computing environment, across on premise and cloud environments. We expect each employee to live our values and behavioural expectations each day. In addition to this you will work within the Security Operations Centre (SOC) and take the lead role in threat hunting and incident response activities by,
- Proactively identify and analyse potential security threats by conducting Security Monitoring and Investigation activities across various environments, including networks, systems, and applications.
- Support in coordination of incident response activities, including triaging, investigating, containing, eradicating, and recovering from security incidents in a timely and efficient manner.
- Develop and maintain SOC playbooks, guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent and effective response to security incidents.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, engineering, and legal, to ensure alignment and effective coordination during threat hunting and incident response activities. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing timely updates on incidents, findings, and recommendations.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate employees on security best practices, incident response procedures, and threat detection techniques.
- Using a combination of detection engineering, human effort, and advanced cybersecurity technologies to proactively investigate UniSuper's systems and data to mitigate or prevent information security incidents
- Regularly searching for vulnerabilities and risk factors in data and systems, through a combination of hypothesis-driven investigation, indicators of compromise (IOC) investigation, and machine learning investigation
About you
We are looking for an individual who has worked in fast moving transformation environment and is comfortable working with a degree of ambiguity.
- Passion for cyber security and the positive impact to protect UniSuper and its members from cyber threats
- In-depth experience with modern SIEM platforms
- Experience in related Information Technology or Cyber Security speciality area such as network services, systems administration, systems analyst, risk management
- Extensive experience of Mitre Att@ck framework and cyber security frameworks such as NIST.
- Experience with threat hunting and incident response processes.
- An inquisitive self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team to analyse problems and provides answers in conjunction with more senior team members
- Ability to learn at pace through formal and informal means, establishing connections with the security industry, learning from peer networking and colleagues at UniSuper
