Position Overview:
The Senior System Administrator will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing the internal IT infrastructure, ensuring the seamless operation of both on-premises and cloud-based systems, with a focus on Azure. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of expertise in system administration, network management, and cloud technologies to enhance the reliability, security, and performance of Workpac’s IT environment.
Key Responsibilities:
System Administration:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of on-premises servers and systems. Perform routine maintenance tasks, including updates, patches, and system backups. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
Cloud Management (Azure):
Manage and optimize our presence in Azure, ensuring efficient utilization of cloud resources. Implement and maintain cloud-based solutions for scalability and reliability. Monitor cloud infrastructure performance and security, implementing best practices.
Network Security:
Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect against cyber threats. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments. Collaborate with the security team to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand IT requirements and provide technical solutions. Collaborate with developers, system architects, and other IT professionals to implement new technologies. Provide clear and concise documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Required skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in system administration, with a recent focus on Azure environments.
- Proven expertise in managing Azure cloud services and resources.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux server environments.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware).
- Familiarity with network protocols, firewall management, and security best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Relevant certifications such as MCSE, CCNA, or Azure certifications are a plus.
