Job Description
About the role:
You will perform a key role in influencing, guiding and improving the team's efficiency, independence and quality using modern Agile thinking and practices. This role is the SME at our Refinery and manages a significant portion of infrastructure support and architecture, including:
Operational Excellence
  • Deliver on required service levels in line with platform criticality and impact assessment per ITIL principles as platform technical owner.
  • Maintain the application lifecycle through development/deployment, upgrades and decommissioning of enterprise manufacturing platforms in line with business strategy and vendor roadmaps.
  • Proactive monitoring, troubleshooting and triaging system incidents and service requests
  • Maintain relationships with application vendors, business platform owners and end users to resolve incidents and tickets proactively.
  • After hours on-call support required for Business Critical Situations
  • Maintain knowledge bases and documentation related to the supported platforms through platform changes and enhancements.
  • Continual process and Service Improvement – Identify areas of opportunity and automation by analyzing systems, requests and incident data and recommend improvements to the environment and processes.
Agile Delivery
  • Deliver process improvement and re-engineering initiatives as a key technical resource in line with DevOps and Software Development Lifecycle principles (SDLC).
  • Deliver within an agile framework with sprint cadences focused on highest value as an active member of a cross functional team.
  • Prepare and document requirements and design specifications, test plans and as- built artifacts for business solutions that are commissioned.
  • Responsible for design, build, test and support relating to the platform (within a 24x7 environment depending on the business criticality of each platform)
  • Deliver technical components which will contribute to large multi-stream programmes in this complex, multi-stakeholder, matrix managed environment.
  • Identify options for potential solutions and assessing them for both technical and business suitability for IT projects
  • Provide technical and content support to support training requirements on the platforms.
Quality and Cyber Risk
  • Work in collaboration with the cyber security team to understand requirements and deliver the of Cyber Security Strategy in Tech Apps platforms at the Energy Hub including remediation of platform gaps
  • Maintain the information security baseline for the platforms and ensure any gaps are remediated in line with expectations including patching, life cycle management, disaster recovery, vulnerability remediation, identity and access management, data protection and other control functions.
  • Define and execute controls which improve the reliability and resilience across supported platforms. Look for ongoing improvement opportunities in these controls.
  • Support information risk management assessment and internal/external audits for demonstrating compliance.
  • Maintain license compliance across supported platforms
Qualifications
About you:
A team player you will have a passion for collaboration and customer centricity driven by strong communications skills. You will be curious and have a learning mindset and keen to pick up new technologies and skills. You will have technical skills and experience in the following areas:
  • Extensive experience supporting business critical applications, preferably at a Refinery or a manufacturing / asset-intensive business.
  • Experience in Cloud technologies for hosting applications, databases and other components that make up the solution stack
  • Underlying data hosting technologies – SQL Server, Oracle (Azure SQL and Dataverse strongly preferred in addition) as other desirable skills
  • Deploying and supporting commercial off the shelf vendor platforms in coordination with platform vendors per defined SLAs.
  • Knowledge and experience with data engineering tools – SQL development, Azure Data Factory, SSIS and API driven architectures.
  • The Windows Server on-premise and Azure cloud hosting, IIS, windows desktop SOE environment, active directory access management, application SCCM packaging, group policy, remote desktop and virtualized environments (Azure virtual desktop, RAS parallels etc).
  • Strong preference for Power Platform skills – Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI
  • Ability to triage issues with different teams supporting different components of the solution e.g. middleware, infrastructure or information security teams.
  • Manage vendor and stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to document technical information and share knowledge across peers through documented knowledge bases in Confluence or similar.
  • ITIL experience and good understanding of incident, problem and change management.
  • Delivery experience in an agile and waterfall environment
  • Understanding of source control management using Github, Bitbucket or similar
