Job description

The Queensland Police Service is establishing a dedicated First Nations and Cultural Capability training team. As a Senior Training and Development Officer (Cultural Capability), you will design, deliver, coordinate and evaluate QPS education and training courses and programs, to strengthen the Cultural Capability of the QPS and its members, to improve policing outcomes involving First Nations and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) people.

You will drive continuous improvement activities to enhance service delivery outcomes relating to education and training, working in partnership with QPS business areas, First Nations peoples and communities, representatives of
government departments, and external agencies.
Your key accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:

  • Lead the design and deliver QPS education and training courses and programs using evidence based adult education techniques and training best practice strategies.
  • Lead and manage a diverse range of education and training projects through the design, development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of QPS education and training courses and programs.
  • Liaise, consult and negotiate across QPS business areas to conduct needs analysis and assess cultural training requirements; and advise on and develop the educational strategy to produce effective adult education and training courses and programs.
  • Provide professional strategic advice to support senior managers, consultative groups and committees in relation to education and training trends, delivery strategies, opportunities and issues, including impacts on existing and new QPS
education and training courses and programs.
  • Prepare high-level advice, reports, submissions, briefing materials and correspondence for senior management.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective and appropriate communication and collaboration with QPS business areas, multicultural / First Nations peoples and communities, representatives of government departments, and external agencies in order to identify efficiencies, consistency and enhance service delivery outcomes relating to education and training.
  • Fostering a stimulating, equitable, ethical and safe working environment for staff which encourages commitment, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement.
  • Design evaluation, feedback and quality assurance frameworks to gauge the effectiveness of education and training activities and implement processes and procedures for continual improvement of education and training courses and programs.
Role Requirements
Mandatory
  • While there are no mandatory requirements for this role, possession of skills and experience in an accredited tertiary qualification in adult education would be highly regarded.
  • Previous experience in the development or delivery of Cultural Capability training would be highly regarded.
Qualification
  • Nil.
Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience
  • Previous experience with the design, development and delivery of adult education and training courses and programs would be highly regarded.
Other
  • This position will be required to undertake travel within Queensland.
