About the role
The NHVR’s Strategic Local Government Asset Assessment Project (SLGAAP) is an Australian Government funded initiative to optimise heavy vehicle access on the local road networks across Australia. It supports councils to better understand the capability of their on-road assets, such as bridges and culverts, and inform heavy-vehicle access decision-making.
We are looking for a vibrant, energetic and proactive Education and Training Advisor with a passion for developing and facilitating a range of educational material and packages for local governments.
In consultation with subject matter experts, this role will prepare, write and deliver content through a range of mediums such as on-line content/modules, videos, presentations, newsletters and info guides to name a few.
You will consult and collaborate with stakeholder groups to identify the gaps in content, analyse training needs and negotiate flexible and blended learning and development strategies.
This is a temporary full-time role until June 2026. Working with a family-friendly team, we offer a supportive hybrid work environment with flexible work from home arrangements. We encourage work-life balance and celebrate additional leave over the Christmas/New Year period and through rostered days off.
About you
You don’t need to be an expert in the heavy vehicle world or know anything about bridge engineering (although you’d get bonus points if you did). But what you do need to have is an ability to take technical information and concepts and make them accessible. Converting technical documents into simple educational materials will come naturally to you.
You will have a proven ability to apply contemporary learning and development principles and practices. You can develop and implement training content, as well as monitor and review impacts to ensure its meeting its intended outcomes.
You will also have proven ability to meet timeframes and competing deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills, facilitation and relationship management skills will see you thrive in this role.
You will have demonstrated experience in the management of a Learning Management System and online learning platforms. At a minimum, you will be qualified with a Cert IV in Training and Assessment and have appropriate professional affiliations (example IAP2).
