How you’ll make a difference

We have an excellent career opportunity to join our Utilities Network Delivery Branch. This position within the Smart Metering function is integral to the success in the City's quest to minimise water leaks and provide our customers with the capability to take control of their water usage.

The position takes full responsibility for the operations of the Smart Meter functionality, operational management and limited project management to ensure a smooth transition from project to operational phase.

  • Provide leadership, guidance and supervision to the Smart Meter team.
  • Management of a contractor and a team of 2, Investigations and Technical Officer and a Customer Support Officer.
  • Manage investigations and report on abnormal water flow rates or consumption and initiate actions to resolve.
  • Manage, monitor and report on the status of the Smart Meter system and data logger performance.
  • Manage development, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Smart Meter functionality processes and procedures.
  • Data analysis and reporting.
  • Manage, investigate and resolve customer matters in accordance with relevant policies. 
  • Strive to ensure satisfaction for each customer with water consumption concerns.
  • Engage and provide advice to customers and key stakeholders in relation to water consumption concerns.
  • Initiate Aqualus and LoRaWan systems development to meet Smart Metering operational requirements.
  • Manage Smart Meter installations, registrations and interaction with the end user.
  • Initiate and lead discussions in technical investigations, improvements and resolutions with team members on smart meter installations, replacements and new Smart Meter technology.
  • Lead discussion in working groups for Smart Metering development, informing and advise for future applications. 
  • Initiate and take ownership for small projects and budgeting within the Smart Meter functionality. 
  • Assist with policy development and improvement.
  • Provide volume, progress and financial reporting associated with Smart Metering

What you bring to your new role

  • Exceptional time management skills and can prioritise workloads with competing deadlines.
  • A team player and comfortable to work autonomously when required.
  • Have strong interpersonal negotiation, oral and written communication skills including the ability to address customers and stakeholders, facilitate meetings and groups and prepare effective written reports.
  • Experience and knowledge in planning, operation and maintenance of water supply systems and related infrastructure standards, statutory requirements and policies.
  • Experience in customer engagement and resolving customer complaints.
  • Experience in resolving issues using the latest technologies.
  • Sound analytical skills with the ability to research and provide written reports with recommendations.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Bachelor Degree of Business or equivalent knowledge.
  • Bachelor Degree of Engineering or equivalent knowledge. 
  • Driver’s licence, unrestricted.
  • General construction induction white card.
