SALARY: $1817.26- 2082.44 pw + Super + Leaseback Vehicle

An opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced Senior WHS Advisor to join Council's Safety and Risk team. Working in partnership with Council's varying service streams, you will utilise your technical knowledge and expertise to drive a safety culture focused on the health, safety and well-being of all Council staff and visitors. You will be involved in facilitating and delivering WHS strategies, training and programs to support legislative compliance and effective application in the workplace.

Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in WHS or a related discipline.
- Construction industry general induction (white card)
- Construction industry experience in a safety leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing safety systems in an operational / trade environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of the NSW WHS Act and Heavy Vehicle National Law.
- Ability to provide advice and support to enable internal customers to meet WHS legislative and organisational requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate to a broad range of internal customers in relation to both strategic and operational matters.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion on staff issues.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
Desirable:
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
- Experience undertaking safety audits and investigations.
- Experience in Local Government.
To meet Council's WHS requirements and in accordance with Council's Covid-19 Safety Plans, this position has been identified via risk assessment to be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or provide evidence of an approved medical contraindication. If a medical contraindication certificate is provided, it will be assessed against a risk assessment and the decision of whether Council accepts the medical contraindication certificate, will be based on operational needs.
