  • Remuneration: 138k-$146k + flexible 17% super and leave loading
  • Location: Kensington, NSW (Hybrid work arrangement available)

Why your Role Matters
As Senior Workplace Relations Specialist you’ll bring your practiced expertise in the area of industrial relations and/or employment law to support the delivery of compliance and pay confidence across UNSW.

Working closely with the Program Lead in this area, you’ll identify and report on risk management within the Program, offering informed advice and solutions on wage compliance, the Fair Work Act and the application of enterprise agreements. Developing strong relationships with the ER team and the People Law team, you’ll work collaboratively in this dynamic working environment to develop and deliver compliant outcomes for the Program and the University.
This role reports into the Program Lead, ensuring the University’s compliance risks are minimised, appropriately managed, and embedded in process and controls across UNSW. The role has no direct reports.
Skills and experience summary: You will hold a relevant qualification, or equivalent level of knowledge, and experience in Human Resources Management, industrial relations or employment law to expertly advise on these matters. alongside:

  • A strong knowledge of relevant legislation, industrial agreements and policies, as well as experience in wages and employee record keeping compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as an ability to build relationships and influence with impact across senior management on complex and challenging matters.
  • Superior influencing and negotiation skills with the ability translate and communicate evidence-based advice.
  • Practiced in experience conducting thorough enquiries and managing complex investigations, including gathering and analysing relevant evidence and data.
  • Advanced report writing skills including making practical recommendations.
